Patrick is R consultant and a PhD student at the GIScience group at the Department of Geography at University of Jena. has advanced knowledge in the area of applied machine learning, more specifically in the field of environmental modeling. His special interests are in applying machine learning problems to spatial and spatiotemporal data science problems. Patrick helps develop the mlr3 package, which is by many considered the most advanced machine learning platform in R and has won various data science awards already.
The mlr3 package is geared towards scalability and larger datasets by supporting parallelization and out-of-memory data-backends like databases. While ‘mlr3’ focuses on the core computational operations, add-on packages provide additional functionality.
